The Air Force Office of Special Investigations Headquarters, Quantico, Va., hosted a membership drive and meeting for the Women in Federal Law Enforcement organization March 22. This event was the first of its type ever held outside of WIFLE's usual meeting location in Washington, D.C.

The WIFLE members were also treated to a tour of OSI's new headquarters, which is located within the Russell-Knox Building along with several other federal agencies.

The WIFLE members in attendance included law enforcement professionals from the FBI, Secret Service, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. Marshals, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) and others.

Special Agent Helen Stewart, one of OSI's WIFLE membership coordinators, helped with organizing and managing the event.

"It was an incredible opportunity to invite our counterpart agencies to our new headquarters," Stewart said. "One of the things we're especially proud of here is our Hall of Heroes, which was established in honor of OSI members who paid the ultimate price in defense of our nation."

Stewart, a long-time WIFLE member, spent time during the membership drive speaking with potential future members.

"WIFLE is a wonderful agency that works to increase and encourage diversity throughout law enforcement, and likewise promotes liaison opportunities," she said. "Agents from many different backgrounds can get together to discuss how to improve our organizations."

According to their Web site, WIFLE, since their creation in 1977, has worked to promote gender equity through its leadership education center that provides training, research, scholarships, awards, and networking opportunities in partnership with law enforcement agencies, their members and supportive sponsors.
