OSI celebrates 66th anniversary at picnic Published Aug. 11, 2014 By Maj. Dave Wilson AFOSI Public Affairs QUANTICO, Va. -- Members of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations gathered at Locust Shade Park near Quantico Marine Corps Base, Va., to celebrate the organization's 66th anniversary. OSI officially became operational Aug. 1, 1948, with director General Joseph Carroll leading investigative and counterintelligence activities from 25 geographic districts. Since 1948, OSI has risen to become one of the world's premier investigative and counterintelligence agencies. Picnic activities included volleyball, corn hole, face painting, a cake cutting and a pie-in-the-face contest. A USO truck also came and handed out party favors and snow cones.
