#MonthofTheMilitaryChild Our military children and families are the best deal our Nation gets! Military kids don’t make the choice to serve, but their strength and sacrifice is right up there with those who wear the uniform.
How about some military #history for your Saturday afternoon? This week marked the 77th anniversary of the #DoolittleRaid. On 18 April 1942, #airmen of the U.S. Army Air Forces, led by Lt. Col. James H. (Jimmy) Doolittle, carried the Battle of the Pacific to the heart of the Japanese empire with a surprising and daring raid on military targets at Tokyo, Yokohama, Yokosuka, Nagoya, and Kobe. This heroic attack against these major cities was the result of coordination between the Army Air Forces and the U.S. Navy, and the act of the brave men who carried out the attack will remain part of our heroic legacy forever. https://www.afmc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1818829/77-years-of-courage/
"New science should be pursued relentlessly and then applied quickly," said Secretary of the #AirForce Heather Wilson. Learn more about how the United States Air Force is working to move technology from blueprint-to-battlefield more rapidly in the latest episode of Air Force TV. https://youtu.be/ZGoiZuuyHmo
Working dogs play a key role in the operational activities of the United States Air Force and across the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and #federal agency spectrum. To ensure a better and sustainable working dog future, this week members of ten federal agencies gathered to tour #AirForce and DoD Military Working Dog facilities and shared information about their working dog programs - including challenges and best practices - to identify new collaboration opportunities. https://www.afmc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1818809/federal-agencies-kickoff-working-dog-collaboration-effort-for-stronger-sustaina/
“Terrorism was not a buzzword in 1995. The word would’ve just been destruction. Something that you never thought would happen and you definitely didn’t think would happen in your hometown,” said Justin Dulworth, a first responder on scene at the #OklahomaCityBombing At 9:02 a.m. on April 19, 1995--24 years ago today-- a truck bomb exploded outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, blowing off the entire north face of the building, killing 168 people and injuring another 650. More than 1,000 military and civilian personnel from Tinker Air Force Base took part in rescue, recovery and relief operations following the devastating attack. It’s something you don’t forget,” Dulworth said. “There are certain sounds that you remember. To me, there’s certain smells that can come back to you and there’s certain things that make you go right back to when you’re walking down the street that you can never forget.” #NeverForget www.afmc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1818811/tinkers-own-recall-oklahoma-city-bombing

It doesn’t have the stain-fighting power to make your whites whiter and your brights brighter. It won’t make you look 10 years younger or give you six-pack abs. And, it won’t keep your boat with the screen door bottom from sinking. But what Arnold Engineering Development Complex #civilian #Airman James Landon's #innovative 'Trapper Lapper' does do is make the arduous, hand-cranking job of 'lapping' much easier and less physically demanding. And we call that a 'win' for our teams. #AFMCInnovates2019 https://www.afmc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1809770/innovative-approach-by-arnold-craftsman-makes-task-faster-less-strenuous/ #AFMCInnovates2019
“Everyone loses if war extent expands into space,” Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson said during a SASC hearing on Space April 11. “But we are developing the capabilities to deter and, if necessary, to fight and win in the space domain as we do in all other domains so that our adversaries will choose wisely to deal with our diplomats and not with our war fighters, and that's what this is about.” #Airpower #space https://www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1812279/senate-armed-services-committee-recognizes-importance-of-space-while-offering-d/
