Forge Your Legacy as an AFOSI Special Agent
Are you seeking a career that transcends the ordinary? A path defined by challenge, purpose, and global impact? The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) is calling for a new generation of protectors. We are a diverse team of active-duty military, civilians, and reservists united by a single mission: to identify, exploit, and neutralize criminal, terrorist, and intelligence threats to the Department of the Air Force, the Department of Defense, and the U.S. Government.
As an AFOSI Special Agent, you won't be confined to a desk. You will operate across the full spectrum of federal law enforcement and counterintelligence missions, from criminal and fraud investigations to counter-espionage and protective service operations. This is a career that promises elite training, global travel, and the immense satisfaction of safeguarding our nation's critical assets and personnel.
Who We're Looking For
We have opportunities for both seasoned professionals and ambitious graduates. We are actively seeking:
| Category |
Description |
| Experienced Professionals |
We value the skills of experienced law enforcement and counterintelligence personnel. |
| Entry-Level Applicants |
We have entry-level positions for recent college graduates. A bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.95 is required, and while law enforcement experience isn't a prerequisite for these roles, degrees in areas like cyber, forensics, and foreign languages are a plus. |
Most entry-level civilian positions are filled at the GL-7 pay grade. For those interested in the entry-level path, our Palace Acquire (PAQ) Program offers a formal, three-year training and development track.
Core Requirements
To be considered for a position as a civilian Special Agent, you must meet the following criteria:
-
Age: You must not have reached your 37th birthday (exceptions apply for preference-eligible veterans and those currently under the 6C Federal Law Enforcement retirement system).
-
Citizenship: You must be a U.S. born or naturalized citizen.
-
Clearance: You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and pass a polygraph examination.
-

-
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited university is highly competitive.
-
Prerequisites: A valid driver's license is required, and you must pass a comprehensive hiring process that includes a psychological evaluation, medical exam, drug test, and an extensive background investigation.
The Path to Becoming a Special Agent
Your journey begins at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia.
-
Criminal Investigator's Training Program (CITP): This mandatory 12-week program is attended by trainees from numerous federal agencies and provides foundational training in everything from firearms and defensive tactics to legal procedures and investigative techniques.
-
AFOSI Basic Special Investigators Course (BSIC): Following CITP, you'll attend this 8-week course, which focuses on AFOSI-specific policies, procedures, and mission sets.
If you have already completed CITP with another agency, you will only be required to attend the BSIC. All new agents must also successfully complete the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) at FLETC.
