Chief Master Sergeant JAMES F. HOY

CMSgt James F. Hoy is the 18th Command Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) headquartered at Quantico Marine Ground Installation, Virginia. AFOSI is a federal law enforcement agency with responsibility for conducting criminal investigations, counterintelligence and specialized investigative activities, protective service operations and integrated force protection for the Department of the Air Force. AFOSI is also a combat-ready military criminal investigative organization that provides the Air Force a wartime capability with counterintelligence support to force protection to find, fix, track and neutralize enemy threats in hostile and uncertain environments. He serves as the senior advisor to the commander on matters concerning force utilization, readiness, training, career progression and quality of life for over 3,400 enlisted, officer and civilian Airmen assigned to major Air Force installations and a variety of operating locations worldwide.

CMSgt Hoy entered the Air Force in May 2002 and completed technical training as a Security Forces member at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), Texas in Oct 2002. As a Security Forces member, he was assigned to F. E. Warren AFB, Wyoming and Royal AFB Mildenhall, United Kingdom. While assigned to Security Forces, he deployed to Sather Air Base (AB), Baghdad, Iraq in 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).CMSgt Hoy retrained into AFOSI in 2008. As a special agent, he deployed to Kirkuk Regional AB, Iraq in 2009, once again in support of OIF in 2012, CMSgt Hoy served as the Personal Security Adviser to the Commander, United States Transportation Command. 

In 2017, he served as the Superintendent, Task Force Black, AFOSI Expeditionary Detachment 2413, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. His assignments also include bases in New Mexico, Illinois, Washington, and Ohio. Prior to assuming his current position, he was the SEL, AFOSI 5th Investigations Region, Ramstein AB, Germany.
