Bronze Star

The Bronze Star Medal was authorized by Executive Order 9419 dated Feb. 4, 1944, retroactive to Dec. 7, 1941. It is the eighth highest award one can receive, but only one of four medals awarded for heroism. (Illustration/Virginia Reyes, Air Force News Agency)
