Stabler to take reins of AFOSI

Col. (Special Agent) Kirk B. Stabler will become the 18th Commander in the storied 69-year history of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations May 18, 2017.

As commander, the career law enforcement officer derives his independent criminal investigative authority directly from the Secretary of the Air Force. He leads the activities of AFOSI conducted by a worldwide network of more than 2,000 military and civilian special agents assigned to major Air Force installations and special operating locations.

Col. Stabler succeeds Brig. Gen. (Special Agent) Keith M. Givens who welcomed the new Commander by passing him AFOSI Badge and Credential 1, May 16, 2017, in front of a standing room only audience of AFOSI headquarters members, in the Russell-Knox Building Collaboration Center, Quantico Marine Corps Installation, Va.

General Givens will retire to the civilian sector.
