Office of Special Investigations Det. 206 at Nellis Air Force Base played a role in a joint undercover operation carried out by the Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, ending with 18 arrests between Dec. 1 and 2, 2022.

Besides OSI, the internet operation was carried out by members of the FBI, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Henderson Police Department, North Las Vegas Police, Homeland Security Investigations and the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.

During the operation, two OSI Special Agents acted as liaisons for local authorities when military records needed to be searched, as they had done in the past, a Det. 206 official said.

As a liaison, he said it was important for OSI to maintain that working relationship.

One suspect during the undercover operation previously served in the military. This operation, however, did not result in any arrests of active-duty service members.

The suspects, ranging in age from 19 to 53, to were taken into custody after arranging to meet up with undercover agents posing as juveniles online and later booked into the Clark County Detention Center on multiple charges, including luring a minor with a computer to engage in sexual acts and attempted sexual assault with a victim under 14 years of age.

The operation was conducted as part of the LVMPD’s ongoing effort to reduce violent crime and protect children in Nevada.
