Special Agent George Murphy, a Naval Criminal Investigative Service member, was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award July 12 for his support of the Air Force Office of Investigations. The award was given to SA Murphy to recognize his work as the OSI Directorate of Warfighter Readiness and Execution deputy director. He served in this capacity at the OSI headquarters from July 2009 through June. He led a 20-person team that ensured deploying agents and professional staff were properly equipped and trained to operate in austere and hostile environments. During his tenure with OSI, he saw the stand-up of two new expeditionary detachments that oversaw the safe delivery of more than 7,000 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles to the battlefield. SA Murphy's wife, son and father were on hand to see Col. Keith Givens, OSI vice commander, present SA Murphy with the medal and citation. SA Murphy said he was humbled and honored to receive the award from his OSI counterparts.
