Airman Basic Jeremy Parrott, who escaped U.S. Air Force custody in September 2008 after being charged with possession of child pornography and sentenced to three years of confinement in July 2008, was apprehended June 3 at approximately 8 p.m. in Ipswich.

A law enforcement team, led by the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations and comprised of 48th and 100th Security Forces Squadron members, Suffolk Constabulary officers and members of the United Kingdom's Serious and Organized Crime Agency, was able to locate and apprehend Airman Basic Parrott through a combination of tips called in by local community members after he was highlighted June 2 on BBC's television program, Crimewatch.

Airman Parrott is now in the correctional custody of the U.S. Air Force, and will remain there until command and legal authorities determine the additional charges he will face as a result of his escape.

Airman Parrott, who was previously assigned to the 48th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, had served less than three months of his three-year sentence when he escaped. In addition to confinement, he also received a dishonorable discharge and was demoted from Senior Airman to Airman Basic.

Further details of how Airman Parrott was apprehended and the identity of the individuals who called in the tips that led to his capture are being withheld at this time due to the nature of the operation.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
