A General Court-Martial at Edwards Air Force Base, California, convicted a former staff sergeant from March Air Reserve Base, June 7, on four charges and nine specifications, including domestic violence, child endangerment, communicating threats and failure to obey a lawful order.

The conviction followed a comprehensive investigation by the Office of Special Investigations Detachment 111 OL-A, which uncovered allegations from seven named victims and numerous instances of sexual assault and domestic violence.

“The efforts of Det.111 Special Agents were critical in uncovering the full extent of the abuse," said Special Agent Erik Benson, OSI Det. 111 commander. "Their work turned a single-victim case into a comprehensive investigation that revealed a long pattern of violence affecting multiple victims.”

The trial included five specifications under Article 128b of the UCMJ for domestic violence against four separate victims. Before the trial, the accused NCO accepted a Pretrial Agreement, or PTA

Following the OSI investigation, the Judge Advocate General's Corps presented the case, and the military judge sentenced the former noncommissioned officer to a Dishonorable Discharge, reduction to E-1, a reprimand and a total confinement of 18 years and 11 months — the maximum penalty permissible under the PTA.

“This complex investigation and trial were made possible by the outstanding efforts of OSI Special Agents,” said Benson. “They transformed an initially straightforward domestic violence case into a decade-spanning investigation.”
