QUANTICO, Va. -- The top leaders from the Office of Special Investigations and the Korean National Police Agency, National Security Investigations Bureau, inked a new partnership, July 24, at OSI's headquarters, Quantico, Virginia.
The Memorandum of Understanding, or MOU, was signed during a ceremony attended by OSI leadership and KNPA leadership and according to officials, will be the next step in their continued cooperation on national security, criminal and intelligence issues.
“Cooperation between our agencies is invaluable,” said Senior Superintendent General Seung Hyup Lee, KNPA director, during the ceremony. “We’re eager to benefit from this partnership.”
Looking ahead, the MOU will set the stage for how OSI and KNPA will approach potential threats, cybersecurity and common goals, the document read.
The MOU also encourages joint efforts when tackling issues like criminal intelligence and cyber threats moving forward. In addition, the agreement outlined ways to share important knowledge and information to help both countries better protect their defense resources and personnel.
“Although our longstanding friendship is a strong foundation, this MOU puts to paper a deeper commitment to joint collaboration and ways to partner in the future,” Bumgarner said. “By formalizing our partnership, we will enhance both of our organizations because we are stronger together.”
