The Air Force Office of Special Investigations has secured an exemption to the ongoing federal hiring freeze and is moving forward with multiple vacancies for experienced 1811 criminal investigators.

According to the announcement, the agency is seeking 1811 Journeyman-level applicants with backgrounds in criminal, fraud, cyber, digital forensics, and counterintelligence investigations for positions across the command. Opportunities will be available at both in the continental United States and overseas, which will be specified in each vacancy announcement.

Officials said there will be a staggered rollout of multiple GS-13 vacancies across key investigative career fields. The first announcements will open Nov. 15 for procurement fraud positions, followed by cyber openings Nov. 18. Digital forensics examiner roles will be released shortly after on Nov. 20, with law enforcement and counterintelligence positions scheduled to open Dec. 3.

Each hiring action will include multiple vacancies, and applicants are encouraged to track the release dates closely to ensure timely submission through USAJOBS.

In addition, officials added they encourage qualified 1811s to apply as soon as the job postings go live, noting that quick action will help ensure the command reaches top talent as these opportunities are released. In addition, each announcement will close after three days or once the applicant cap is reached (whichever comes first.) Historically, the cap is reached first.

In addition, the Office of Personnel Management requires all federal job applicants to submit a two-page resume to applications, and failure to do so will result in the applicant being deemed ineligible for consideration. Further details will be provided in each individual vacancy announcement.
