    Since June 2018 Out of Command OSI SA Lt. Col. Joseph Schaefer has been channeling his passion for foreign languages towards a Doctor of Philosophy Degree. On July 29, 2022, he successfully defended his Doctoral dissertation at Carnegie Mellon University to obtain his PhD.

    OSI's Fifth Annual ACECON Aug. 3-5, 2022, continued the effort initiated in 2018 when Command leaders recognized the need to evolve and develop its existing cadre into an agile force ready to compete and deter aggression to prevail in any conflict.

  • New SA firearms will enhance flexibility, reliability, safety

    Special Agents will soon have the option of carrying the Glock 19 or 26 sidearms, with the first batch set to roll out later this year, as announced recently by the Office of Special Investigation’s commander. The new weapons will replace OSI’s aging Sig Saur M11/P228 systems.

  • NCO jailed 24 months for domestic violence, assault

    An Air Force NCO, who pled guilty to multiple domestic violence and assault charges, received a sentence involving 24-months in confinement after a General Court-Martial at Hill AFB, Utah, May 24, 2022. He was also reduced to AB, will forfeit all pay and be dishonorably discharged.

    Chief Master Sgt. Erik Powell’s OSI journey brought him to an historic milestone: the first Active Guard/Reserve chief master sergeant in the agency’s history. Powell’s rise to the top Air Force enlisted rank was observed during a promotion ceremony at AFRC HQ, Robins AFB, Ga, June 30, 2022.
