    The U.S. has increased its focus on Arctic defense initiatives. One such effort is the Arctic Regional Security Orientation Course (ARSOC) education program. ARSOC builds networks of defense and security leaders who better understand DoD security priorities in the Arctic region.

  • NCO jailed 9 months for steroid use, distribution

    An Air Force staff sergeant was found guilty April 15, 2022, during a General Court-Martial at Robins AFB, Ga., for the Wrongful Use of Schedule I, II or III drugs, disobeying a lawful command and destroying non-military property. OSI Det.114, Tinker AFB, Okla., ran the investigation.

    On June 15, 2022, SAs Damian Lonergan and Jamie Huffman from OSI’s Office of Procurement Fraud Investigations Detachment 6 Operating Location C, witnessed an SUV veering off the road and plunging into the waters of the Cicero Swamp Wildlife Management Area.  

  • OSI hosts self-defense class to empower survivors

    The Office of Special Investigations Academy Detachment 1 recently teamed up with sexual assault prevention offices at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, in April 2022, to host a self-defense seminar for survivors of sexual assault.

  • OSI preps to protect moon mission

    OSI Det. 802 hosted a strategy session involving multiple OSI disciplines at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida, focused on support to space launches and the commercial space industry for the first time. This coincided with NASA's Artemis 1 moon mission, the next phase of human exploration.

  • Airman jailed five years for off-base shooting

    Gunshots broke out in Clearfield, Utah, March 2021, resulting with an Airman jailed for the next five years for three specifications of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon. His trial ended March 21, 2022, following the joint investigation by local authorities and OSI Det.113 at Hill AFB.

  • NASCAR salutes Fallen OSI agent during 600-mile race

    On Memorial Day, the 2022 Coca Cola 600, honored fallen troops by featuring their names on windshield headers. One honoree, Tech. Sgt. Ryan Balmer, an OSI Special Agent killed by an IED in Iraq in 2007, was commemorated on the No. 31 Chevrolet driven by Justin Haley.
