QUANTICO, Va. -- Col. Pamela A. Alley took command of OSI’s 8th Field Investigations Region, June 30, 2023, succeeding Col. Seth A. Miller, the outbound commander, following change of command ceremony.
During her remarks at the ceremony, 8 FIR’s new boss stressed her deep admiration for the region and its mission, “It has been a growing ambition of mine to lead Reg. 8,” she said. "I firmly believe it houses the finest personnel and mission across OSI."
Alley, who previously served as 8 FIR vice commander from 2020 to 2022, is well-acquainted with the region's mission. Following her role as 8 FIR vice commander, Alley also held the position of Chief of Staff of the 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.
Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, and raised in West Simsbury, Connecticut, Alley has decades of OSI experience, including leadership roles in units at both the squadron and detachment levels, joint assignments and multiple deployments, including twice to Iraq and once to Southeast Asia.
At 8 FIR, Alley will lead units and personnel across 23 locations in the United States and provide direct support to major commands including the North American Aerospace Defense Command, the United States Northern Command, the United States Space Command, the Air Force Global Strike Command and three Space Force Field Commands.
By collaborating with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, counterintelligence units, and the Intelligence Community, the 8th Field Investigations Region ensures the delivery of prompt and accurate criminal and threat information, something Miller praised in his departing words.
“I will greatly miss the amazing men and women of Region 8 I have had the honor of leading,” Miller said. “I will miss the exceptional work that our men and women are doing for our nation and the impact we have on national security.”
Echoing Miller’s sentiments, Alley will now be entrusted with the crucial mission of Reg. 8, which includes safeguarding critical technologies and information, neutralizing threats, conducting criminal investigations and proactively engaging with foreign adversaries.
"Col. Alley is a true embodiment of the OSI spirit – determined, vigilant, and committed to the mission,” said Col. Amy Bumgarner, OSI’s commander. “As she takes command of Reg. 8, I have no doubt her leadership will inspire the agency to reach new heights."
