Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, Mr. William A. Davidson, visited the Air Force Office of Special Investigations Headquarters at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., Sept. 23.
AFOSI invited Mr. Davidson, a former OSI agent, to the headquarters to receive an official tour of the new facility.
Mr. Davidson's tour included a briefing in OSI's Investigations Collections Operations Nexus conference room. When he arrived in the conference room, however, he quickly discovered that he was brought to the room for more than a briefing.
Several OSI members, along with Mr. Davidson's wife, Peg, gathered to celebrate and honor his Air Force career by re-naming the conference room in his name - the William A. Davidson Conference Room. A display featuring Mr. Davidson's Air Force career is prominently featured on one of the walls.
Brig. Gen. Kevin Jacobsen, OSI commander, was among the OSI members present for the dedication. He thanked Mr. Davidson for his service to both the Air Force and OSI.
"You've made AFOSI better both during your time with us and after," General Jacobsen said. "You always have been part of the AFOSI family and you will always continue to be. Thank you for your professionalism and your service."
Mr. Davidson seemed genuinely surprised and expressed gratitude for the recognition.
"This is quite an honor," Mr. Davidson said. "Thanks so much for this."
He went on to describe OSI as the tightest group of people anyone could hope to work with and emphasized the importance of OSI's mission.
"We all got into this business because we care about the Air Force and our nation," he said. "The impact OSI has today will be felt for generations to come. OSI is one of the most valuable assets we have protecting our military."
Mr. Davidson has worked in his current capacity as the administrative assistant to the secretary of the Air Force since 1994, where he is the senior career civilian adviser to the secretary of the Air Force and serves as the Air Force's senior security official. In his career with OSI, he served in many leadership roles, including chief of the Air Force Polygraph Program.
After sharing some fond memories and thoughts on his Air Force career, Mr. Davidson wrapped up his remarks by saying, "Once OSI, always OSI. It has been an honor to serve with you."
