QUANTICO, Va. -- Throughout its history, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) has sought to forge trusting, long-term partnerships: on base with Airmen, commanders and nearby communities; across the Department of Defense; and globally through strategic relationships with partners from local, state, federal and international law enforcement, military, and security agencies. In today’s rapidly changing world, AFOSI seeks opportunities to strengthen and expand such partnerships in a deliberate manner that builds fosters results in collective efforts to address criminal and national security threats to the United States Air Force and its partners.
At the local level, AFOSI personnel will often reach out to partners to identify common threats and to seek ways to address such challenges. For example, AFOSI special agents may brief Airman and their families on emerging cyber threats, while AFOSI analysts will assess recent investigative data for trends, and then share these insights with commanders and other agencies.
Within the Department of Defense, AFOSI partners with other investigative agencies to share best practices and to ensure effective support to Air Force and Joint commands and agencies. This includes efforts to secure new technologies and to protect ongoing and planned military exercises and operations.
AFOSI also develops long-term partnerships with local, state and federal law enforcement and security agencies to identify and neutralize threats at the national or international level. These efforts have led to the capture of wanted criminal fugitives, the prevention of fraud and bribery, and the neutralization of international terrorist activity.
AFOSI senior leaders, based at our headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and in regional offices around the globe, seek to foster a dynamic, pro-active culture that values learning, action, results, and reflection on lessons learned. As an organization, AFOSI seeks to be collegial, collaborative, open-minded and forward-looking. We welcome your cooperation in achieving these goals to better protect our communities, United States Air Force, the Department of Defense, the United States, and our Allies and partners.
