The ‘new normal,’ at least for the foreseeable future, created by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, has significantly changed the way people conduct business and live their lives.

Whether you are officially quarantined, or just trying to stay home and limit contact, everyone is getting a lot closer to the people they live with for the next few weeks.

The Office of Special Investigations Employee Assistance Service, recognizing that a lengthy “close quarters” lifestyle can be taxing on all concerned, is offering a trio of opportunities to learn how to deal with such a confined reality.

“The bright side of the operational slowing created by the current issues is that there is time that can be devoted to working through stress and personal issues,” said Dr. Margaret Swank, Chief, OSI EAS. “Internal work can strengthen foundations for the mental toughness necessary for law enforcement and counterintelligence work.”

Employee Assistance Programs and some local providers offer telephone or video consults. For more information, contact Dr. Swank.

“This also provides the capability to include family members (usually spouses) if they are serving on temporary duty somewhere and want to have a couple’s meeting,” Dr. Swank said.

On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, OSI EAS presents Guided Mindfulness Meditation with Wellness Coach Lauren Henry, from 10-10:30 a.m., Eastern Time in the U.S. and Canada.
